Dear Indiana MoveOn member,
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels and his Republican colleagues in the Indiana House and Senate, along with their deep-pocketed corporate allies from out of state, are pushing a so-called right-to-work bill—the biggest attack on Hoosier working families in decades.
In other states with right-to-work laws, there has been a loss in the number of jobs as well as cuts in wages, reduced benefits, and an increase in unsafe working conditions. In short, right-to-work laws do nothing but weaken the collective voice of workers by destroying unions.
Fortunately, Democratic members in both houses of the Indiana Legislature are standing up to this power grab. Democrats in the House have filibustered sessions over the past week even in the face of $1,000-a-day fines from Republicans.
House and Senate Democrats are also pushing for a referendum allowing Hoosiers to vote on this issue. Initially, Republicans said they would support a referendum. But after it became clear that 71% of Hoosiers oppose the law, they went back on their word.
We can stop right-to-work in Indiana, but we need Democrats in the legislature to keep fighting. That's why I created a petition to Indiana State Democratic Senate and House members on SignOn.org, which says:
Thank you for standing up to support Hoosier workers by opposing the so-called right-to-work bill. As you continue to oppose this assault on Indiana's working families, we will continue to stand with you.

Urgent Action Needed

Now that the Senate has passed "right to work for less," our representatives in the Indiana House need to hear from us TODAY. Our Democratic state representatives are facing an onslaught of negative and misleading TV ads, paid for by Gov. Daniels' secret donors. To stand strong and keep doing all they can to prevent House Speaker Bosma from further steamrolling the democratic process, they need to hear from you.
